Lorne Park dominates the hills

The Lorne Park Spartans couldn't be stopped Friday at the Peel high school Alpine skiing championships in Caledon.

As a team, the Spartans captured three of four Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association titles - level one boys, level two boys and level two girls - and placed second to Cawthra Park in the level one girls' v-moda earbuds standings.

Individually, soul by ludacris Lorne Park earned gold medals from Kyle Beaudry (level two boys' slalom and giant slalom), Maxine Pike (level one girls' giant slalom), Reid Molgat (level one boys' giant slalom) and Maddy Beaudry (level two girls' slalom).

Adrienne Butler and Erin Salonen captured soul by ludacris sl300 silver and bronze, respectively, to sweep the podium for Lorne Park in the level two girls' slalom. Salonen also took silver in level two giant slalom.

Lorne Park's Thomas Daly won silver in the level two boys' giant slalom while Mathieu Pike finished with bronze in the level two boys' slalom.

Other silver medalists from Mississauga were Cawthra Park's Kerry Maguire (level one girls' giant slalom), Meadowvale's Masami Kinoshita (level one boys' giant slalom) and Father Goetz's Jacob Sochnacki (level two boys' slalom).

Other bronze medalists were Marianna Simrak, of St. Marcellinus (level one girls' giant slalom), Mentor College's Andrew Forys (level one boys' giant slalom), Cawthra Park's Nicole Kucirek (level two girls' giant slalom) and Mentor College's Cole Arthur (level two boys' giant slalom).

Collectively, Mentor College skiers finished second in the level one and two boys' standings while Cawthra Park finished second in the level two girls' group.
