افتراضي Wedding a gift for a desperate father


DANBURY -- At 82 years of age and diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, retired Marine Master Sgt. Thomas Kearney said he doesn't have a lot of time left.

So when doctors told his family Saturday that Kearney was too frail to attend his daughter's wedding at his home on Sunday, wrist watches for men they decided to bring the wedding to him.

"One of his nurses suggested we could have the ceremony on the terrace," aid his wife, Sally Kearney. "So the doctors and nurses put together a plan so he wouldn't have to leave the hospital."

Shortly after 2 p.m., Kearney, vintage wedding dresses, took his place among the 30 other guests on the terrace and waited patiently for his daughter, Sharon Kearney, to make her entrance.

At 51, she became the last of the 10 children of Kearney and his first wife, Barbara Scofield, to get married when Justice of the Peace Joy Hodge pronounced her and fiance Christopher Pierwola, of Woodbury, man and wife.

"I can't believe it. It's finally going to happen. I married off the last one," Thomas Kearney said.

Sharon's daughter, Kim, one of her four children, was maid of honor. Pierwola's brother, Kevin, was the best man.

"I finally found someone I could love iphone 4s case," Sharon said, "and I'm so glad the hospital let us do this here."

The couple have been together for four years and became engaged last year, Pierwola said. They had originally planned a backyard ceremony at the Kearney home in Danbury, but in July, Thomas Kearney was diagnosed wrist watches for men.

"He's a 20-year retired career Marine, and he's quite a guy," said Pierwola, who works in construction. "We were hoping he'd be able to come home for the ceremony."

But on Saturday, Sally Kearney said, the hospital staff said her husband was too dehydrated to leave the hospital. With guests, including many of the bride's siblings, on the way, a quick change of plans was necessary.

Following the short ceremony and a time for photographs, guests toasted the newlyweds with cake and
car stickers.

"You know the movie where the bride keeps running away?" Scofield said. "That was Sharon. She avoided it a number of times. But I guess he was a pursuer."
